Dual Enrollment

In keeping with our goals to ensure that every child is college and career ready, CMIT-South high school juniors and seniors have the opportunity to earn college credit, while still in high school through the Dual Enrollment Program.

PGCPS will pay tuition for all students dually enrolled in qualified courses at any Maryland public college or university. Additionally, fees and textbooks will be paid for students who receive free and reduced meals.

PGCPS students must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled in 11th or 12th grade
  • Meet college requirements on college admissions tests – SAT, ACT, Accuplacer
  • Provide own transportation to and from the college campus
  • Minimum admissions requirements may vary at each college

***Seniors are not able to earn dual credit for courses taken during the spring semester of their senior year.***

All Dual Enrollment students (new and continuing) must complete the Dual Enrollment process each semester.

Students must go through the Dual Enrollment process to take college courses while still in high school.

About the Accuplacer Assessment:

High school juniors and seniors, with a 2.5 minimum GPA, have an opportunity to take the Accuplacer assessment , at their high school free of charge during the school year. The new Accuplacer Next Generation has replace the previously administered Classic Accuplacer. The Accuplacer is a college placement exam administered online that tests a student's proficiency in reading, math and writing. More detailed Information about the Accuplacer Exam can be found here.

Eligible students are permitted to take the exam once during a designated testing window at their high school. Students are able to retake the exam once during each subsequent designated testing windows. Students who have previously taken the Accuplacer Exam, and are satisfied with their scores, are not required to retake it.
